WHAT ARE CONSIDERED PRECIOUS METALS

Gold can usually be identified by the markings on your jewelry, such as: 8kt, 9kt, 10kt, 14kt, 18kt, 22kt or 24kt. Some gold may be marked as .417 for 10k, .585 for 14kt, and .750 for 18kt, 999 for 24kt.

Yellow and white are the most common colors for gold, but gold can also be green or rose-colored

Platinum jewelry will be marked .950 or PLAT on the piece. Platinum is generally white in color

Silver will have anyone of the following markings: Sterling Silver, 925 or 900.

Costume jewelry, items marked 1/10 GF, gold-filled, gold plated, HGP, HGE are electroplated, not solid gold.

Items that are silver plated are coated with silver and are not precious metal value. Silver needs to be stamped Sterling, 925 or we cannot accept it.
